Sunderland have agreed to acquire Lyon winger Malick Fofana. The transaction is valued at least €30 million (£25.7 million) upfront, with add-ons ranging from €5 million to €6 million.
The 21-year-old has been cleared to fly for a medical test before signing a five-year contract with the North East club. That will have an option for an additional year.
Fofana recorded two goals in six matches for Lyon this campaign, scoring in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off loss to Fenerbahce and the season-opening 2-0 Ligue 1 victory against Toulouse.
