Manchester City will now face Brighton & Hove Albion in their fourth-round EFL Cup 2026-27 fixture. This high-voltage match is scheduled to take place at the Etihad Stadium.

Enzo Maresca’s men are coming off a 1-2 loss at the hands of Aston Villa in their recent Premier League outing. It was an underwhelming performance by them. Manchester City completely lacked a finishing touch in the attacking front and must not repeat the same in their upcoming cup contest.

They will be at home, and this is going to be a massive advantage for them. The Cityzens are good at controlling the tempo, but must come up with a sharper performance in defence, as it has not been up to the mark.

After their phenomenal run of performances, the Fabian Hürzeler-led side have failed to secure a win in their last two matches. They were first held to a goalless draw in the Conference League and then suffered a 0-2 defeat against Liverpool in their Premier League outing. The Seagulls will now be eager to get back to winning ways, but the upcoming Carabao Cup clash can be a challenging one for them.

First of all, Brighton will be away from home, and this can build up some pressure on them. They are more than capable of producing a top performance and will be looking to do so against Manchester City.

Players to Watch

Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

The Norwegian striker continues to be the main source of goals for Manchester City. He was the sole goal scorer for his side in their 1-2 loss against the Villans. Erling Haaland will be ready to lead his side in the attacking front once again and is going to keep the opponent’s defence on edge with his positioning.

Pascal Gross (Brighton)

The 35-year-old has been one of the most consistent players for Brighton & Hove Albion this season. However, his performance in the recent league outing against Liverpool was quite underwhelming. Pascal Gross was responsible for an own goal, and he will be looking to get back to his top run of form. He can control the midfield well and is capable of being a goal threat.
