The Red Devils lost their first game of the Premier League season.

On Sunday, Manchester United will host Ipswich Town in the Premier League. Michael Carrick will try to get his first league win of the season. The Reds suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat to Hull City in their season opener last weekend, departing the MKM Stadium empty-handed.

Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy took Manchester United to the sword in the first half, leaving the visitors unable to respond to the Premier League newcomers. However, Carrick will be expecting a change of fate when his first-team returns in two days.

Amad Diallo was forced out of United’s first-team trip to Hull last weekend due to a minor injury acquired while training. While there were expectations that the Ivorian might be able to return against Ipswich, Carrick has said that he will not be eligible for selection.

Mason Mount remained sidelined with a foot injury suffered against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month. During Friday’s news conference, Carrick stated that he should be close to being available for the Ipswich game.

Amad won’t be involved, he’ll be out for a little bit longer. Mase is back around the group, he trained this week, so a real positive.

Carlos Baleba ruled out for clash against Ipswich Town

Carlos Baleba recently joined United in a £70 million deal from Brighton & Hove Albion. He is unlikely to play for the club for several weeks. The Cameroonian suffered an ankle ligament injury during pre-season and is not expected to recover until September.

Carlos Baleba has got a little ankle issue, so maybe a couple of weeks to three weeks out.”

“It’s no major issue. It will be great to have him back. We are excited to have him. Different strengths, different combinations. So much more to come from him as well.”
