United will be without some players due to injury.

Manchester United will open their Premier League season 2026-27 away to newly promoted Hull City on Saturday. Hull will return to the top flight following a nine-year sabbatical, while Michael Carrick will want to improve on his team’s performance from last term.

However, the manager will be missing many players ahead of the game, as many are still recovering from injury while others are ruled out. So, here are five players who are likely to miss the opening Premier League game vs Hull City:

5. Karl Darlow

New signing Karl Darlow is set to miss Manchester United F.C.’s Premier League opener against Hull City. Darlow is currently working his way back to full fitness following a medical operation performed at the conclusion of last season. He is yet to play a competitive game for United and is a significant question for the season opener.

4. Tom Heaton

Tom Heaton, a veteran custodian, will miss Manchester United’s forthcoming Premier League encounter against Hull City on August 22, 2026, owing to a preseason injury. Heaton suffered a hamstring injury during the preseason and is currently inactive, with no comeback date set.

3. Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte is unavailable for Manchester United’s first Premier League match against Hull City on Saturday. He suffered a major knee ligament injury while competing for Uruguay in the FIFA World Cup 2026. He has had successful surgery, but he will need to go through a lengthy recovery procedure and spend time on the sidelines.

2. Mason Mount

Mason Mount’s absence from Manchester United’s last two pre-season matches has raised concerns. He looks set to miss Saturday’s Premier League opener against Hull.

During the first three games of United’s pre-season campaign, Mount was probably the team’s player of the match, and his link-up with recently signed Andrey Santos looked fruitful. But early on in the match against PSG in Gothenburg on August 8, he was hit on the foot and had to be replaced.

Since then, the midfielder has not trained and now his availability remains uncertain for the club’s first few matches.

1. Benjamin Sesko

After joining Manchester United from RB Leipzig last summer, Benjamin Sesko had a generally decent first campaign. Benjamin Sesko has a slim possibility of participating.

After suffering a shin injury last season vs Liverpool, he resumed team training this week, although it is still unclear if he will be in the travelling team against Hull City on Saturday.

The Slovenian striker scored 12 goals for the Reds last season, including a number of crucial Premier League strikes that helped the team qualify for the Champions League.

Will Benjamin Sesko play for Manchester United in the opening 2026-27 Premier League game?

It’s uncertain as of now.

Is Mason Mount injured?

The midfielder has not trained since suffering an injury against PSG.
