The Red Devils were held by Spurs at home.

Manchester United hosted Tottenham Hotspur in a Matchday 6 fixture of the Premier League 2026-27 at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw at home. Bryan Mbeumo’s 73rd-minute goal was cancelled by an equaliser from Dominik Solanke.

After being second best for the majority of the opening hour, United got the breakthrough when Mbeumo converted after being picked out by Matheus Cunha in the 73rd minute. This goal looked like it would prove to be the winner in what was a tight clash.

Spurs then went down to 10 men after Rodrigo Bentancur was given his marching orders for appearing to headbutt Luke Shaw. However, the visitors made the most improbable comeback. Dominic Solanke headed the ball past Senne Lammens in the 92nd minute.

Key takeaways from Premier League 2026-27 clash

Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere

1. First half of few chances

A lot has been said about Tottenham’s inability to score in the league, yet it was the United strikers who completely ghosted when called to deliver. The home side registered an xG of 0.05 with just one shot, compared to 0.96 for Spurs. Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo had 16 and 18 touches, respectively.

2. Toothless Fernandes

It is not often one can say that Bruno Fernandes has been the least-performing player for United. However, the Portuguese midfield maestro had just one touch in the Spurs box in the first half, failing to create a single chance for Cunha and Mbeumo. Fernandes grew into the match a little bit in the second half.

But it was still an uncharacteristically quiet evening for the United skipper.

3. Casemiro’s absence hurts Red Devils

Youri Tielemans was signed to inject some urgency into the United midfield. The Belgian had one of his most productive outings today. He was all over the pitch, covering the most distance among all the players at Old Trafford.

However, for all his brilliance, Tielemans needs a physical presence around him to cover for him when he gets dispossessed. United used to have that in the form of Casemiro. That hole has not been filled since the Brazilian departed.

4. Yoro impresses on the right

Leny Yoro has faced a tough test in breaking into the United defence, with Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire established as Michael Carrick’s first-choice centre-backs. However, the French youngster was deployed at right-back by Carrick today. He had a solid outing.

In his hour on the pitch, he had 44 touches, making a team-high 12 defensive contributions. These included three tackles and a last-man tackle. He was also good going forward, making two line-breaking passes into the Spurs’ half.

5. Spurs defy expectations

When Bentancur was sent off in the most stupid fashion, the match looked done and dusted. Spurs were yet to come back from a losing position with 11 men; doing so with 10 men made it impossible. Yet, the Lilywhites did something not associated with them – they fought back when their backs were against the wall.

Solanke’s scrappy headed goal in stoppage time secured a vital point for the visitors, lifting them off the foot of the table.
