Manchester United vs Arsenal: Head to head record
This is one of the hottest rivalries in Europe.
The clubs have encountered countless times, and United always had the upper hand in this rivalry. However, the Gunners have also had their fair share of success in this most exhilarating rivalry. The rivalry flared up in the late 1990s and early 2000s when the two clubs often battled for the Premier League and the FA Cup.
From there, it became vindictive, with Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson constantly squabbling on the touchline. On field troubles between club captains Patrick Viera and Roy Keane saw seven red cards were issued to the players from February 1997 to February 2005.
However, by 2010 things had changed, and the rivalry had cooled down; Alex Ferguson has also stated, “there are no heated exchanges anymore in matches.”
Head-to-head record
Both clubs are in a different state of affairs and are steadily establishing themselves in the Premier League. Manchester United have had two managers in a year and are currently being rebuilt under Erik ten Hag. Despite losing the first two games of the season, United has gone on a three-game winning streak.
While Arsenal is gradually reclaiming its status after a dismal season in which they failed to qualify for the Champions League. They are yet to lose this season and have a 100% winning record, thanks to Mikel Arteta, who has done an incredible job.
