Manchester United are now gearing up to take on Brighton & Hove Albion for their third-round contest of the EFL Cup 2026-27. This is going to be an intense outing between these clubs, taking place at Old Trafford.
The Michael Carrick-led side are coming in after facing a defeat against Manchester City in their last English Premier League clash. The Cityzens were down a player and still the Red Devils failed to score a goal. They lacked a finishing touch and this led them to lose the match.
Manchester United are heading into the EFL Cup for the first time this season and they will be looking for a win. This match being at Old Trafford is surely going to be a massive advantage for them, but they must not make similar mistakes as they did during the Manchester Derby.
Brighton & Hove Albion have shown some high-scoring performances this season. They have come up with attack-oriented approaches. Fabian Hürzeler’s men took down Coventry City by a scoreline of 5-0 in their last league outing. They have scored 17 goals in their last five matches, which means it is going to be hard for the hosts now.

Kobbie Mainoo will once again play an important role due to his work rate. He can create problem’s for Brighton’s attack by breaking up the play.
Pascal Gross (Brighton)
The 35-year-old put in top efforts in the Seagulls’ recent dominant victory against Coventry City. He converted a crucial spot kick and came up with two assists, making him the top performer. Pascal Gross will be once again looking to step up his game so that he can help Brighton put up a strong fight against the Red Devils.
