In the shadow of the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, the Old Trafford Stadium on the Red side of Manchester gears up to host the most anticipated first Manchester Derby of the Premier League 2026-27 season.
This will be Enzo Maresca’s first-ever derby game after taking over the reins as the head coach of Manchester City, following the departure of Pep Guardiola. City are placed second after winning every single one of their first three games in the English top flight. Those wins came against Coventry City, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.
They are just a win away (and better goal difference) from leapfrogging Arsenal to occupy the top spot. The last time these two sides met at Old Trafford, United won the game 2-0. Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu helped the cause for the Red Devils.
After a shaky start to the new season with a 2-0 defeat to Hull, United have done well. They are unbeaten in their last three games. After a 5-2 win over Ipswich, they played a 2-2 draw against Everton before winning 4-0 against Sabah in their opening UCL fixture recently.
Both sides are in sublime form, and we can expect this Premier League game to be a cracker of a match.

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United)
Bruno Fernandes has made a strong start to the 2026-27 Premier League season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in three appearances. He has also created eight chances, making the Manchester United captain the team’s main creative and attacking outlet heading into the derby.
Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
Erling Haaland has also scored three Premier League goals in three matches, with 14 shots and eight on target. He scored in each of City’s first three league games and also netted twice against Porto in the Champions League, making him Manchester City’s biggest goal threat against United.
