‘Thanks’: Marcus Rashford reacts after Jamie Carragher shuts down Gary Neville

Rashford is back at Old Trafford for the new season.
Marcus Rashford revealed his wish to put an emphasis on playing football without his “name being mentioned every day” in reply to Gary Neville’s effort to spark a conversation about the Manchester United forward.
The 28-year-old responded to a preview tape for a future episode of the Stick to Football podcast, in which Jamie Carragher displayed displeasure when co-host and former Manchester United player Neville asked for his opinions on Rashford’s return to Manchester United.
Rashford is back at United after spending last season on loan at Barcelona, where he helped the club win the Spanish league title.

His last official outing for United was in December 2024, under previous manager Ruben Amorim, but he is expected to be in Michael Carrick’s team for Saturday’s Premier League start against Hull.
In the clip released on Overlap’s X account, Neville raises his hands and says:
“Oh, Marcus Rashford. What do we think?”
It provoked an outburst from an angry Carragher. He then remarked
“Can we do a podcast without mentioning Rashford? Stop it. Oh my God. It’s like the Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Rashford. Like a little part of the podcast. The Trent part or the Rashford part.”
Marcus Rashford responded to the clip with a post on X, saying:
“Thanks, Jamie.”
“It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day.”
Rashford was in fine form last season on loan at Barcelona, where he scored 14 goals and assisted 14 times in 49 games, helping the club win LaLiga. The Spanish club had the option of signing him permanently for £26 million, but decided to sign Anthony Gordon instead.
