Martin Odegaard issues injury update after 2-1 defeat to Portugal

After undergoing treatment following the match, Martin Odegaard expects that his ankle injury from Norway’s loss to Portugal will improve over the next few days.
In stoppage time at Ullevaal, Bernardo Silva caught the Arsenal captain as Norway sought an equaliser in their 2-1 loss. Odegaard initially remained down in obvious distress before continuing the match, despite Silva receiving a booking for the challenge.
After the end of the game, Martin Odegaard stayed at the stadium receiving treatment since he was unable to advance for a late Norway corner.

When asked if he was worried that the issue may prevent him from playing in Norway’s remaining games during the international break, Martin Odegaard expressed optimism that it wouldn’t be a major issue.
“I took a knock on the ankle there, so it probably won’t feel great tonight.” Odegaard told TV2.
When questioned about the challenge itself, the Arsenal captain expressed even more fury.
Martin Odegaard told Norwegian television that he did not comprehend what the former Manchester City midfielder was doing and that Silva had caught him long after the ball had left. By the time Odegaard spoke following the game, Silva had not offered an apology.
For Norway, it was the culmination of a miserable evening. Stale Solbakken’s team suffered their first home loss since March 2024 after defeating Denmark 3-2 with all three points in their opening Nations League match.
Martin Odegaard played the entire game, but Silva confronted him while he was deep in his own half. Although no diagnosis was made on Sunday night, his response later was more concerned with the nature of the difficulty than the ankle itself.
During the international break, Odegaard’s injury raises additional fitness concerns for Arsenal. After sustaining a strained muscle during Thursday’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands, Kai Havertz was already back early from Germany duty.
