Mohun Bagan Day 2020: Beitia, Bag win football honours

The day is celebrated to commemorate the famous victory of 1911.
The year 2020 has been a year of great uncertainties. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a huge loss to human life and the world has come to a standstill. Everyone is managing to cope up with the prevailing situation and is trying their best to fight the virus. Mohun Bagan believes that with continued effort and resilience, India will beat the virus and emerge victorious.
As all the fans are aware that every year on 29th July, Mohun Bagan celebrates the day to commemorate the famous victory of 1911 but amidst the current circumstances due to COVID-19 this year, the Club Executive Committee has decided not to celebrate the Mohun Bagan Day by organising a physical programme.
For Mohun Bagan family, the safety and security of their members and supporters are of utmost priority. The Executive Committee has further decided that Mohun Bagan Ratna and other awards would be conferred to continue with their legacy.
The Executive Committee has unanimously decided to confer the following awards on 29th July 2020 to the following persons:
Mohun Bagan Ratna
Shri Gurbux Singh (Hockey) & Shri Palash Nandi (Cricket)
Lifetime Achievement
1. Shri Ashok Kumar (Hockey)2. Shri Pranab Ganguly (Football)3. Shri Monoranjan Porel (Athletics)
Best Football Player (Senior)
Joseba Beitia
Best Youth Player
Sajal Bag ( U18 team)
Best CricketerNot applicable
The awards would be presented personally to those persons who are available in Kolkata. The awardees who will be unable to receive the honour due to their unavailability in the city would be presented at a later stage when things would be normal.
