Midfielder Rowllin Borges would be representing the Islanders, along with three other fans of the team. The 28-year-old stated, “World over, all of us have been affected due to this pandemic, some more than the others. In a time when it is best to be confined to your homes, e-sports as a platform, has brought together the world in an unprecedented manner.”

He further continued, “The global FIFA Challenge is a fantastic initiative by the CFG to help engage fans in Mumbai, in India and all over the world. Moreover, we’re happy to be able to extend our support to charities through this one of a kind event.”

Additionally, the fans who would be watching this contest would have an opportunity to donate to the chosen charity of the respective club. Mumbai City FC have opted for the Oscar Foundation for this cause. It is an organization that aims to empower the youth in low-income communities in the country. The non-profit association uses football as a tool to impart education and life skill lessons amongst children. It has created an impact on over 12,000 children in the last nine years across various states in India.

The City Football Group acquired 65% stakes in Mumbai City FC in November, 2019. Gradually, the group seems to be adopting several marketing strategies to promote the Islanders. This event that will see the participation of the likes of Sergio Aguero and Oleksandr Zinchenko would be an attempt of the same. Rowllin Borges would face-off against Mridul Sharma, a fan of Mumbai City FC on 5:30 PM IST and it could be viewed in this particular domain.
