The Marina Machans are through to the playoffs with a game still to go.

Lucian Goian put forth a turnaround story like none other, as he ensured Mumbai City’s ouster from the current edition of the ISL by scoring the winner at the Mumbai Football Arena, to secure a victory for Chennaiyin FC. Sourav Das was sent off in the earlier part of the second half, which provided a numerical advantage to Owen Coyle’s side and they made sure they capitalized on it when the decisive corner arrived in the 82nd minute. Here are the player ratings from Mumbai City Vs Chennaiyin: [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]

Mumbai City FC

Amrinder Singh- 6.5 Amrinder showed immense courage when he decided to continue with a tape around his forehead after a nasty blow in the middle of the first half. He made some good saves too, but was completely out of place for Goian’s goal. Mohammed Rafique- 6.0 Rafique was quite relentless with his defensive duties, often giving it his best even whilst dealing with aerial balls. However, as usual he just did not induce enough creative spark on the attacking front. Pratik Chaudhari- 5.5 Pratik did a decent enough job, shouldering more responsibility at the centre ever since Das’ dismissal in the second half. He made 10 clearances and four tackles, as Chennaiyin piled up the pressure when the game progressed. Subhasish Bose- 5.0 Subhasish was kept engaged in the defensive half, but the head coach might just have fancied the left-back to link-up play better with Diego Carlos and thus add up as an authoritative offensive threat for Mumbai. [KH_ADWORDS type="1" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Rowllin Borges - 7.5 Rowllin was simply the man of the moment for Mumbai, despite the tide turning against him. The responsible demeanour that he portrayed after Das was sent off sent signaled that the home team would demonstrate their fighting spirit right until the end.   Sourav Das- 5.0 The statistics might not emanate this, but Sourav was exceptionally good with the positions he took in the first half. His moment of madness in the second that stemmed out of desperation resulted as the final nail in Mumbai’s coffin.

Substitutes

Bipin Singh- 4.0 Bipin took the odd shot from outside the 18-yard box, but none of them were accurate enough for the ball to land in the back of the net. Bidyananda Singh- 4.5 Bidyananda Singh was brought on to perform the dual duties of providing defensive stability and prompting some convincing final moves with his long passes. Chennaiyin FC

Vishal Kaith- 6.5 Vishal was incredibly confident whilst coming out of the box and thwarting the potential goal-scoring chances that Mumbai created. He survived a close red card call when he brought down Amine Chermiti outside the box though. Laldinliana Renthlei- 7.0 Rentheli was dynamic on the offensive front and quite industrious with respect to putting in timely challenges and disrupting Mumbai’s occasional forward forays particularly in the first half. Jerry Lalrinzuala- 6.0 Jerry tried to make inroads through the flanks, but his attempts were well dealt with by the Islanders. From a defensive aspect, he kept his actions neat, with apt tackles and challenges whenever required. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Edwin Vanspaul - 5.5 Edwin had a commendable passing accuracy, but none of his ventures in that regard were specifically threatening to Mumbai. Anirudh Thapa- 7.0 Thapa was tenaciously involved in winning back the ball and moving it around to Rafael Crivellaro on the flank. He also took good positions in front of the box to take shots at Amrinder whenever Chennaiyin moved ahead with the ball. Lallianzuala Chhangte - 5.5 Though Chhangte did make some incisive runs forward, his end product was quite disappointing and even in the build-up, the lad tended to misplace his passes at the other end. Substitutes

Thoi Singh- 5.5 Thoi spent nearly a quarter of the game on the field, but barely had any influence with merely 12 touches of the ball. Germanpreet Singh- 6.0 Germanpreet maintained a passing accuracy of 81% and put in a couple of successful tackles, a contribution that was very vital towards the end of the game.
