Mumbai FC have released three of their key players with immediate effect. Defenders Pratik Choudhary and Allan Dias as well as skipper Steven Dias have left the club, sources say.
Sources close to the developments told Khel Now that the players were released on the request of head coach Santosh Kashyap, who it is understood was not happy with their performances in the season so far.
However, this decision has seen simmering discontent among the squad boil over. Sources have told Khel Now that a group of players have approached the MFC management asking for the head coach to be relieved of his duties.
Sources said the players have been dissatisfied with Kashyap's methods for a while and are now in arms after the arbitrary decision to release three of their teammates including the captain.
While efforts to reach the club for comment were unsuccessful, it is understood that Kashyap continues to enjoy the confidence of the Mumbai hierarchy.
