Muzamil Mehmood: The first AFC A-licensed coach from Ganderbal district

The former Chandigarh State National Team head coach and Real Kashmir FC assistant creates history by qualifying for the Diploma.

The story of Muzamil Mehmood is a very rare story that you hardly hear anymore. The coach was born in the rural area of Gogjungund one of the last villages of District Ganderbal

He grew up as a Brazilian National team supporter idolizing Ronaldinho. While himself being a player he tirelessly worked to introduce the game of Football to many villages in his district promoting the global game.Muzamil played a pivotal role in establishing the football association in Ganderbal which formalized football in the Ganderbal district. 

Beginning of a coaching career and a visit to Brazil

It was in 2007 aged 25 Muzamil started coaching in 2007 as assistant coach of Juan Marcos in International Sports Academy Trust (ISAT). Getting an opportunity to visit Brazil in 2011 for a coaching course.Back home in 2011 Muzamil established a football academy and club 'FC Ganderbal' to provide coaching and a platform to local talent which over a decade has groomed numerous players.

Racking up the licenses

Concentrating on coaching badges he finished AIFF D AFC C and AFC B Licenses from 2014 to 2019 During that period also then took on several coaching projects starting from being appointed As Assistant Coach for Real Kashmir FC in its first season of 2nd Division I league.

He then was appointed head coach of the U15 State Sports Council academy helping groom the best of state talent. He also served as Head coach of the women's team of Kolhapur FC in the IWL. He was appointed as the Head Coach for Chandigarh State National Team in the Santosh Trophy.

He recently qualified for the prestigious AFC A License Diploma and continues to work for the development of Indian Football in the valley.
