Nepal announce 28-member preliminary squad for India friendlies

The Gorkhalis will host the Blue Tigers in two international games next month.
Nepal men's national team head coach Abdullah Almutairi has announced a 28-member preliminary squad for the upcoming two international friendlies against India. There were, however, some big names missing from the squad announced.
Bishal Sunar (GK), Randip Poudel, Bharat Khawash, George Prince Karki, Rajiv Lopchan, Sanjog Rai, Tridev Gurung, Rajin Dhimal, Sesehang Angdembe, and Bikram Lama have been left out of the squad that has been preparing for the SAFF Championship 2021.

Nepal is scheduled to host two friendly matches against India to finetune the team ahead of the SAFF championship in the Maldives. The Dashrath Stadium will host India on September 2nd and 5th. Team Nepal is currently in Pokhara for the preparatory training camp for the championship.

Kiran Kumar Limbu (GK), Bishal Shrestha (GK), Deep Karki (GK), Bikesh Kuthu (GK), Arpan Karki (GK), Suman Aryal, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Gautam Shrestha, Ananta Tamang, Rohit Chand, Suraj Jeu Thakuri, Suman Lama, Kamal Thapa Magar, Nitin Thapa, Tej Tamang, Rajan Gurung, Pujan Uperkoti, Bishal Rai, Santosh Tamang, Sujal Shrestha, Sunil Bal, Manish Dangi, Anjan Bista, Ayush Ghalan, Nawayug Shrestha, Aashish Lama, Abhishek Rijal, Shisir Lekhi.
Friendly matches dates
The two international friendly matches will be played on September 2 and 5 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal. India and Nepal have faced each other 19 times in the past with India winning 13 of those games. Nepal, on the other, have won only two of those meetings, the last of which came in the 2013 SAFF Championship.

India's squad
India head coach Igor Stimac has announced an initial 23-member squad for a national camp in Kolkata, which started on August 15. The Blue Tigers also played a friendly game against IFA XI and won the match by a 1-0 scoreline with Akash Mishra scoring the only goal. Players from Bengaluru FC and ATK Mohun Bagan are also set to join the camp after the conclusion of their AFC Cup group stage campaign.
