Rising at the beating heart of Europe’s leading Brainport technology hub, the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven, Netherlands gear up to host a fixture of the UEFA Nations League. Three-time World Cup finalists Netherlands and Serbia lock horns in what is set to be a thrilling clash.
After a heartbreaking early exit in the FIFA World Cup 2026 to Morocco, the Netherlands appointed Xavi to take over the reins of the Dutch national team. The Orange began their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Germany and a 2-1 win over Serbia away.
They are coming off a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Greece in the last game. After trailing by two goals in the first half, Van Dijk and a last-minute strike from Reijnders helped the Dutch clinch a brilliant comeback. They are placed second in the group, just a point above Germany.
Serbia are on the verge of relegation from UEFA Nations League A after back-to-back defeats. After two consecutive 2-1 defeats to Greece and the Netherlands, Serbia are coming off a 2-0 defeat to four-time world champions Germany after Bischof and Wirtz found their name in the scoresheet.
They are led by Serbian gaffer Veljko Paunovic, who has extensive experience managing teams in the American top leagues. Keeping clean sheets has not been easy for the Serbians. Bournemouth keeper Petrovic will be keen to put up a heroic performance between the sticks at Eindhoven.
Players to Watch
Crysencio Summerville (Netherlands)
The 24-year-old Rotterdam-born striker has donned jerseys of Feyenoord, West Ham United and Leeds before making a move to Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal. He has been in terrific form so far, scoring two goals in nine games for the Riyadh outfit.
A dynamic and razor-sharp wide forward, Summerville scored twice in the World Cup against Sweden and Japan. He will be keen to get his first goal in the Nations League in front of the home fans in Eindhoven.
Djordje Petrović (Serbia)
The 26-year-old custodian was chosen over Milinkovic Savic against Germany in the last game but it had not much impact. He conceded two goals against Jurgen Klopp’s side. He will be tasked with the responsibility of getting the better of the Dutch offence and helping his team clinch a much-needed clean sheet.
Petrovic has made 13 appearances for Serbia. He has plied his trade with top European clubs like Chelsea and Strasbourg before making a move to Bournemouth last season.
