Bengaluru FC vs Nottingham Forest: Build-up
It was a hard day at work for Bengaluru FC's young lads as they lost 6-3 to Leicester City. The team however earned praise from Leicester City academy coach Leon McSweeney. Leicester City FC’s academy coach admitted the young Foxes were put under immense pressure from the Indian team. “Bengaluru made life very tough for us with their energy and intensity. It caused a lot of problems, particularly in the second half. I think they can be very proud of what they showed. And certainly, if we didn’t have the cushion, we would have been a lot more nervous at the end,” said McSweeney.
Sivasakhti Narayanan and Damaitphang Lyngdoh earned praise through their goals. However, they will fight against Nottingham Forest in the third/fourth place fixture. The mood in the camp should be elevated through their stellar performance in the last game. Scoring three against a Premier League side is not an easy task, keeping in mind the footballing culture and diversity of India and England.
Coach Naushad Moosa hoped to implement some of the learnings against Nottingham Forest. “We learnt a lot and our boys were much better in the second half. Our aim is to take control of how we can improve and become better on the field,” he said.
Up against the English side, Moosa's young bridage will aim to earn as much experience as they can since the Blues will be participating in the Durand Cup next month as well. This experience will help the players to perform even better in Indian competitions.
