The Vikings are playing in their first-ever World Cup quarter-finals tonight.
Norway take on England in a FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final fixture at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on July 11. The Vikings marked their best-ever achievement by reaching the quarter-finals of the expanded 48-team edition in North America and will look to go one step further in tonight’s match.
The Scandinavian nation finished second in Group I. They won back-to-back games against Iraq (4-1) and Senegal (3-2), with the only loss coming against France (4-1). They beat the Ivory Coast 2-1 in the Round of 32, with Erling Haaland netting a late winner.
Haaland netted a brace in the next match against Brazil, securing a shock 2-1 victory and booking his team’s place in the last four. Despite their good form, the Vikings are yet to beat a European side in the quadrennial tournament, and will face a tough test from the Three Lions.

Thoughts on the lineup
Stale Solbakken was boosted by the news that David Moller Wolfe, who was substituted off in the last match due to an injury, has recovered and is fit to start tonight’s match. Julian Ryerson, too, is fully fit, having played the last game, and starts at right-back tonight.
Kristoffer Ajer and Torbjorn Heggem have been the preferred centre-back pairing for the Vikings, and they will protect Orjan Nyland, who starts between the sticks. Sander Berge has been solid in the middle of the park and starts alongside Martin Odegaard and Patrick Berg.
Alexander Sorloth and Andreas Schjelderup start on the flanks, with the latter replacing Antonio Nusa. Oscar Bobb, who set up one of Erling Haaland’s goals against Brazil, is on the bench. Haaland, meanwhile, is firmly in the race for the Golden Boot and starts as the team’s centre-forward.
