About
Baljit Sahni came through the ranks of the JCT Academy and made his name for the senior team by knocking in goals with amazing regularity. Baljit was in the form of his life for the Millmen in 2008-09, slamming six goals in seven I-League matches, before a serious bike accident in Goa curtailed his progress. Sahni won the FPAI Young Player of the Year award for his exploits in 2008-09. He has also represented Punjab in the Santosh Trophy and moved up the international ladder from the junior India team at the 2006 AFC youth championship to the senior squad in due course. The striker was deployed on the right wing for Atletico de Kolkata during Season 1 and was also played as a right-back occasionally. Baljit played the majority of the matches owing to his high work-rate and also chipped in with two goals despite not being played in his preferred position. He joined Chennaiyin FC ahead of Season 3 and managed an assist. He would want to make more of an impact for Pune this season.
