About
Dharmaraj Ravanan began his career playing for Indian Bank in Chennai. But he made a bold move and left the comfortable bank job to join Dempo as a professional footballer after being spotted by their coach Armando Colaco in Bangalore. The stylish player mainly plays the role of a stopper back and is noted for his clean tackling and reading of the game; but he can also fit into the side-back position with equal felicity. Ravanan matured as a defender during his stint at Mahindras under Derrick Pereira and David Booth and peaked following his move to Churchill Brothers in 2011. He contributed handsomely to the winning campaigns of the Goan powerhouse in domestic tournaments. Ravanan, who has also featured for Bharat FC and SC de Goa after leaving Churchill, has been with the Stallions from Hero ISL 2014 and has made 24 appearances for them heading into the new season. Career Highlights Captained Churchill Brothers to the I-League (2013) and Federation Cup (2014) titles. Winner, Durand Cup and IFA Shield 2011. Gave India under-23 the lead in a 1-2 loss to defending champions Qatar in a 2010 Asian Games group match
