Amorim is set to overhaul Milan’s squad.
Rúben Amorim has warned a few AC Milan players that they can leave the club this summer as he looks to start afresh next season.
After a terrible 14-month stint, Amorim was fired by Manchester United in January, leaving Old Trafford with his team in sixth place, level on points with Chelsea.
The 41-year-old is now seeking to do what his predecessor could not and help AC Milan return to the top of European football, and a good transfer window will be critical to his success at the San Siro. However, to spend more in his bloated squad, Amorim seems to have to part ways with some of his first-team talents, freeing up five players.

5. Fikayo Tomori
AC Milan reportedly put Fikayo Tomori up for sale in the closing weeks of the transfer season.
Tomori is now in his seventh season at San Siro, having signed on loan from childhood club Chelsea in January 2021. However, after starting 31 of Milan’s 38 Serie A games last season, he looks to be leaving the club.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoneri have put Tomori on their departure list. With the summer transfer window shutting on September 1, Tomori still has time to seal a move.
4. Santiago Giménez
Ruben Amorim doesn’t consider Santiago Giménez a factor in his priorities for the upcoming season. Following the acquisition of Gonçalo Ramos, Santiago Giménez may no longer be required at Milan. Giménez has scored seven goals since joining the club, and his position as a luxury reserve may grow unpleasant for him.
The midfielder hoped to revitalise his career at Milan, but he suffered another ankle injury at the World Cup and will be out for at least a month and a half.
3. Youssouf Fofana
AC Milan manager Rúben Amorim has added midfielder Youssouf Fofana to the transfer list. Following a string of disappointing pre-season matches, including a 3-0 loss to Chelsea, Amorim had a comprehensive squad review conference with club chairman Gerry Cardinale at the Milanello training facility. Following these discussions, Amorim concluded that Fofana is surplus to requirements as part of his tactical revamp.
Amorim believes the Frenchman does not fit into his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, which requires a double pivot.
2. Christopher Nkunku
This summer, Nkunku tried to prove his worth to Ruben Amorim, Milan’s new head coach. However, the Portuguese tactician has had enough and has chosen not to count on the 28-year-old in his plans.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Nkunku was the latest player to be dropped from the 41-year-old’s plans, joining other AC Milan stars on the transfer list.
1. Rafael Leão
Rafael Leao is another big name in the AC Milan squad that could leave the club before the summer window closes. Leao has been linked to several clubs, but there hasn’t been a concrete offer for the player. With all of those teams going elsewhere, Leao is more stuck at San Siro, months after stating that his time at the club was up and he sought a new challenge.
Hence, for the time being, he remains in the squad, given the club has already placed Nkunku on the transfer list.
