Ronaldo abruptly left the national team camp ahead of the Denmark match.
According to Spanish daily MARCA, the Portuguese Football Association wants Cristiano Ronaldo to return to the national squad. The report was also the first to reveal the striker’s departure from the training camp last Wednesday.
The feud between Jorge Jesus and Ronaldo reached a boiling point on Wednesday evening. Following the national coach’s news conference, in which he stated that he ‘had no difficulties with Ronaldo’, the forward opted to depart the camp on his private aircraft.
A few hours later, O Jogo claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo announced he would leave the national team camp. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner then stated that ‘the truth’ will come out later.
Portugal then defeated Denmark 4-2 in their third UEFA Nations League encounter of the international break. Afterwards, Jorge Jesus claimed that there is no conflict among the squad members.

Regardless, the Portuguese FA wants Cristiano Ronaldo to return to the national squad. According to MARCA, the FA is attempting to reconcile Jesus and CR7 so that he may play his last match for Portugal.
The federation is adamant that Cristiano Ronaldo, the most productive goalscorer in international football and one of the most renowned names in Portuguese football history, deserves respect, dignity, and the opportunity to leave the sport on his terms.
Following Ronaldo’s departure, the federation issued a statement in which it avoided discussing the matter and instead focused on the team’s preparations. The statement read:
“The entire national team delegation continues its absolute focus on the national team’s upcoming commitments and achieving the set objectives.”
Ronaldo has appeared on 234 occasions for Portugal. He scored 146 goals in those games and won the European Championship in 2016.
