I think they managed the situation well- Jose Mourinho on the Kepa Arrizabalaga fiasco
The Spaniard was supposed to be replaced by Willy Caballero.
Jose Mourinho has backed his former club Chelsea on the Kepa Arrizabalaga incident. The recently sacked Manchester United manager was appreciative of the way the Blues dealt with the situation and how they managed to get the back to back wins to shut the critics up.
Kepa Arrizabalaga started all the fuss after refusing to get subbed out of the EFL final against Manchester City just before the penalties. The refusal left the Chelsea gaffer Maurizio Sarri red-faced and everyone else in shock.
The Blues went on to lose the game, with Kepa failing to prevent more than one penalty in the shootout. Chelsea responded to the incident by fining the goalkeeper with a week's wage.

The costliest goalkeeper of Chelsea was also dropped from the starting eleven for the next crucial game in the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspurs. Kepa, though, got his position back in the lineup in the next game against Fulham.
Jose Mourinho believes that there are certain principles that a player and a club need to follow, and the manager lauded his former side for their methods to manage the situation.
“He is the most expensive transfer of a goalkeeper in the world”, Mourinho said on beIN Sports Sunday.
“There are principles, but there are also other reasons to make you have some common sense and try to take it in the right way."
