We thought Jorginho deal was done- Pep Guardiola
The Citizens have only added the club-record signing of Riyad Mahrez to their ranks this summer.
Manchester City have only made one big signing in this summer so far, having signed Leicester City's star Riyad Maharez for £65m. The Premier League champions went all guns blazing in last summer's window doing business to the tune of £221.5m.
The club's second prime target Napoli's Jorginho chose to go with his manager Maurizio Sarri to Stamford Bridge. The midfielder was on the brink of sealing a £46.5m deal to the Premier League champions, but stalled on it in favour of Chelsea's move worth £57m. In a recent interview, Guardiola cleared City's stance in this transfer window, by expressing his desire to sign only one more player that to someone very special.
"We will see, if we decided to bring another one it's because it is a special player, It can be a special player for the future not to have one more player for the number.
All the time I've been here, even in the first season, I have been satisfied with the squad we have and last season again and this season as well. Monday we will all be together, to start thinking about what we need to do to maintain the level of last season," said the City boss.

"So… yes, we were close. But, in the end Jorginho decided [to join Chelsea], We thought [a deal for Jorginho] was done, but at the last turn he decided to go to Chelsea. Similar to Alexis (Sanchez), he decided to go to United.
I want a player who likes to come to Manchester City and he doesn't like to come, so maybe he was a little bit late to announce that.
But, when he decided not to come, then don't come, good luck at Chelsea and I think English football is going to discover an exceptional holding midfielder," added Guardiola.
