We showed the desire in competing for every ball like animals- Fernandinho
The Cityzens were seven points behind Liverpool in January and now they lead them with a point at the top.
The defending champions Manchester City have proved that they won't give up on their consecutive title triumph easily, rather they have competed it like "animals," as per the Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho.
City beat Manchester United 2-0 without any scuffle at Old Trafford and restored their place on the top of the Premier League with just a single point making all the difference against Liverpool, who sit at the second position with 88 points.
Wins in the last three games of the season would mean that City will lift the trophy for the fourth time in eight years.
“We showed the desire in competing for every ball like animals. I think this is the spirit of a team that wants to be champions,” Fernandinho told reporters.
Liverpool, in January, were seven points ahead of Manchester City. The Reds are chasing to end their 29-year drought for an English League title.

City have been ruthless since then, winning their last 11 league games, and Brazil international Fernandinho believes that the title race will go down to the wire.
“If you look back to January, they could have been 10 points clear after our game. We didn’t want that. We reduced the gap to four points and now we’re one point up,” he said.
“That’s the way the Premier League is going to be decided and I hope we can do our job and win those three games, and be champions again.”

“We have to recover as soon as possible and try to be fit and be ready. It’s going to be a very important, very difficult game for us,” he said to UK Reuters.
