Mourinho has not been able to work out Pogba's best place- Rio Ferdinand
One of the greatest players of the Old Trafford outfit has a view on the scenario around the French World Cup winner.
Paul Pogba has been in the news for all the wrong reasons since the start of this season. While the situation refuses to cool down, his former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand has said that Pogba could learn a valuable lesson from Cristiano Ronaldo's time at the club.
Ever since his return to Old Trafford, the midfielder has continued to divide opinion from fans and experts alike, with many critics questioning whether the World Cup winner will ever fulfill his potential playing for United.
In contrast, Ronaldo set the standard as he progressed from being a hopeful wonderkid to a Ballon d'Or winner during his spell in Manchester.
While talents like Ronaldo come once in a generation, Ferdinand believes Pogba could learn a valuable lesson from the Portugese forward's work-ethic. “Cristiano came as what we called a showpony, all the stepovers, looking good for the fans,” Ferdinand told ESPN FC.
“He left the best player in the world, who lived and died by the end product. Goals and assists." But that’s down to intelligence, [Ronaldo] worked it out, actually, ‘that’s good that the people love me for that, but what’s going to get me there, to the top of the mountain. I need to adjust my game.’ And he left as the best player in the world."
Not so long ago, Carlos Tevez revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo had a habit of training hard and longer than his team-mates.
Ferdinand continued, “So Paul Pogba can look at that as something to learn from there as well. What do I really need to do to make myself the best midfielder on this planet?”
“I don’t think it’s in terms of players that you compare them, it’s the mentality side and that’s where Cristiano Ronaldo beats down every player around. He’s an animal mentally. He’s just single-minded, fearless and obsessed. Crazy combination.”

The former defender believes Pogba needs assistance from his manager if he is to fulfil his enormous potential. He understands that the transition from a prospect to a legend is not easy and a player's mentor plays a vital part.

It is Pogba's third season of his second stint with the Red Devils and Mourinho is still in doubt about the Frenchman's best position in the team. Pogba captained the United side in their season opener where they secured a 2-1 home win against Leicester City.
