The Spanish winger joined the Blues in 2015.
Out of favour Chelsea winger, Pedro, who is one of the candidates to leave Stamford Bridge has suddenly sparked rumours about his return to Spain.
The 32-year old was linked with a move to Aston Villa but in the latest interview, he was caught speaking about a shock return to FC Barcelona. Amid all the rumours, Pedro is not the only one looking to leave West London, along with him players like Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso are also keen to move towards greener pastures in the January transfer window.
Pedro opened up about his return to Spain to L’Esportiu, a Catalan daily newspaper. The five-time LaLiga champion and three times Champions League winner was with Barcelona for 11 years before joining Chelsea in 2015, after Neymar’s arrival at Camp Nou.
“This pre-season, there was a possibility of returning that occurred when Chelsea faced Barcelona.”
“I was talking to the coach, but the door closed quickly. Now I don’t know what will happen [in the future].”
“Leaving Barcelona? I have always been courageous, Neymar arrived and I was playing less. These are things that happen in football. The easy choice was to stay at my home with a good salary, but Mourinho’s offer convinced me and I decided to try Chelsea.”
He has been a great servant for Chelsea over the years, which includes accolades such as winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League. All in all, it has been a very eventful stretch of years at Stamford Bridge but with Frank Lampard opting to inject more fresh blood into the starting eleven, players like Pedro and Giroud have gone down the pecking order at the club and are looking to move elsewhere.
It is clear from Pedro’s statement that he wants to return home, as he has dear memories attached at FC Barcelona and return after five long years will be a surprise for the 32-year old.
Now it remains to be seen whether his interview managed to stir up things for the Catalan outfit or he joins somewhere else in the January transfer window.
