The Belgian won the UEFA Champions League in 2019 with the Reds.

Just hours after losing in the FA Community Shield against Manchester City, the unused substitute keeper of Liverpool Simon Mignolet has joined the Belgian side Club Brugge. The transfer fee is understood to be £8.2m with an initial fee of £6.4m with a further £1.8m in add-ons.

The Belgian shot-stopper has played 204 games since joining the club in 2013 and won the UEFA Champions League with the club just a few of months ago.

The official statement read, "After completing successful medical tests, goalkeeper Simon Mignolet signs a contract for 5 years with Blauw-Zwart. Liverpool FC, Club Brugge and Simon reached an agreement on this today."

"Mignolet brings a lot of experience to Bruges. The Red Devil played no fewer than 245 games in the Premier League. Liverpool FC, Club Brugge and the player reached an agreement today. After completing successful medical tests, Simon signs a 5-year contract with Club and can join training at the Club Brugge Basecamp."

As it is learned, Mignolet flew directly after the Community Shield game to complete the transfer and Club Brugge are understood to get the deal done before their Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.

Simon had lost his place to Loris Karius in starting XI in 2017-18 and only featured for a couple of games in the last season as well. There was a loan offer on the table before the last season but Liverpool chose to keep Simon and let go Karius - who largely was the reason of Liverpool's 2017-18 UCL loss in the final.

Klopp is keen on signing a back-up goalkeeper before the deadline day on Thursday.
