The England international joined the Cityzens in 2015 for £49m from Liverpool.

According to transfer expert Duncan Castles, Raheem Sterling has revealed to his friends about his desire to play in Spain in future.

The England international is currently under a contract with Manchester City till 2023 and is one of the vital cogs in Pep Guardiola's side which has won back to back Premier League title. But amidst all of this, Castles believes that Sterling already has a future destination in mind.

He said, "He’s still a young man in footballing terms, he’ll turn 25 next month."

"However he does have a lot of football under his belt because he broke into senior football at such a young age," Castles said on Transfer Window Podcast.

Castle believes that Sterling will thrive in Spain considering his technical ability with the overall league more suited to his style of play.

"One of the countries he definitely wants to play in is Spain. He’s told friends he’d like to experience Spanish football at one stage."

“It’s understandable why. Of the English players, you have now, he’s probably one of the best-suited to playing in Spanish football with the technicality of his game in a league where a player of a smaller size is protected and certainly not at a disadvantage from a playing point of view."

The transfer expert believes that Sterling is one of the best English footballers and also amongst the best in the world, especially in his current form. Castles also puts him ahead of Harry Kane in terms of stature in the transfer market currently.

"If you look at his status in the game at present, I think you’re right to say he is now easily regarded as one of the top players in Europe,” he added.

"I think it’s also fair to say also he would be the top player in English football, certainly from a transfer perspective in terms of a player that the top clubs would want to sign and make a keystone signing for them and make a substantial difference to their team.

"I think he would be ahead of Harry Kane in that perspective, given his form over the last year-and-a-half to two years."

It will be interesting to see Raheem Sterling in the La Liga and with his abilities, with the ball, the England international may thrive there as well. However how this will put an impact on Manchester City and Pep Guardiola still remains to be seen.
