The English international becomes the most expensive defender in history.

The Premier League side Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Harry Maguire from Leicester City on a bumper six-year contract for a reported world-record fee for a defender of £80m. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is rebuilding with young players and the 26-year old player is his third signing after Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James.

The Norweigan tactician's vision to bring back the glory at Old Trafford is what convinced Harry in the first place, as he said, "From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team. It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started."

“I am delighted to have signed for this great club. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Leicester and would like to thank everyone at the club, and the fans, for their fantastic support over the past two seasons.

"However, when Manchester United come knocking on your door, it is an incredible opportunity," he told while making his transfer official.

Along with the English international, the Red Devils are linked with Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes with reports suggesting that a deal is nearing its conclusion. While Paulo Dybala has refused to join United, it will be interesting to see how much amount Juventus will bid for Romelu Lukaku now as both the manager Maurizio Sarri and the star player Cristiano Ronaldo want the Belgian at the club.
