All the players mentioned in the list have the potential to grab the award.

The race for the Premier League Golden Boot has already begun, with the first two matchdays of the league producing some quality finishes. The race for the coveted prize is not a sprint but a season-long marathon.

From unlucky injuries to a drop in form, several factors can affect the outcome of an individual's season. Furthermore, some are defined penalty takers for their respective teams, giving them better chances of scoring a handful with ease to propel their tallies.

This year, we have a few fresh faces who are outright favourites to grab the boot. Let us look at the top 10 players backed by the bookies to win the Premier League Golden Boot.

10. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) @40/1

Despite being the heartbeat of the Manchester City midfield, the Belgian international still often finds chances to score. Carving out chances from tight spaces for the frontline players, he often converts some of those opportunities himself.

De Bruyne's clinical shooting and attacking prowess make him one of the few midfielders to bet your money on him scoring.

9. Diogo Jota (Liverpool) @ 40/1

After his transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jota has been tactfully used by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. At Liverpool, he has established himself as a credible goalscorer. Out of 85 games, Jota has found his name on the scoresheet 34 times.

It is important to note that the Portuguese international had not started in most of those games. He also had troubles with his injuries at Merseyside, which kept him out of action for 24 games. If not for fitness issues, Jota could have easily been in the top five of this list.

8. Raheem Sterling (Chelsea) @ 28/1

It's not abundantly clear if Sterling will find more opportunities at Stamford Bridge as he did at the Etihad for years. However, there is no doubt that he will be a regular goalscorer in his new colors.

After the recent departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, the addition of Sterling comes with a load of expectations. But considering it's only his first season in a new atmosphere, it will take some time before we get to see his best.

7. Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) @ 20/1

Despite the turn of a new season, Manchester United still find themselves struggling without enough goalscorers in their camp. Lacking options, new manager Erik ten Hag will be rolling the dice with the greatest goalscorer of this generation.

Yes, Ronaldo is aging and is probably past his peak, but he is still the hardest worker in the squad. During the last season, he proved that you can never shun him out. In 27 league starts, the Portugal captain scored 18 times and registered three assists, aged 37.

6. Son-Heung Min (Tottenham) @ 14/1

Everyone expects Son-Heung Min to continue his blistering run of form that saw him share the Golden Boot last season.

Like his Tottenham teammate Harry Kane, the South Korean international can be relied upon to perform as an outright threat in numerous games throughout the season. Son doesn't score consistently, but when he does - his tally multiplies in twos and threes.

5. Darwin Nunez (Liverpool) @ 11/1

Liverpool's new recruit from Benfica is another debutant making his entry directly into the top scorer debates. 7% bookmakers believe that Nunez can outscore his opponents under Jürgen Klopp's tutelage.

The Uruguayan international has already opened his tally on his league debut. His poaching instincts are lethal, and with such a high-octane Liverpool system to complement his nature, he will only do better. If he keeps his form till the end of the season, he might have a fair shout at the Boot.

4. Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal) @ 11/1

Arsenal's newest acquisition ranks as the fourth overall choice to win the golden boot this season after moving on from Manchester City. 10% of the believers are confident of Gabriel Jesus' unleashed potential.

Joining the Gunners for this season was a big step for the Brazil international. He did not want to continue his role as a rotation player at the Etihad, sitting as cover for the incoming Erling Haaland.

This move is all about new possibilities as Jesus is the cemented forward in Mikel Arteta's squad. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette gone, Jesus remains the sheer favourite to become the top scorer at the Emirates.

3. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) @ 9/2

Last year's joint winner is the third overall favorite to win the golden boot with an outright chance of 13%. Salah being the routine penalty taker for the Reds definitely helps his chances.

But unlike previous years, the chances of him scoring have dropped. With the departure of Sadio Mane, the Egypt international's task is to play a much more diverse role such as covering the flanks and assisting more.

Poachers like Darwin Nunez, Roberto Firmino, and Diogo Jota will be relying on Salah's orchestration. That's the primary reason why he remains on this position.

2. Harry Kane (Tottenham) @ 11/2

Though Kane failed to retain the award last year, he remains the second choice to bag the golden boot for a fourth time with an overall chance of 18%. With new signings boosting the outfit, Tottenham looks like a much stronger unit than before.

They have a remarkable set of wingers coupled with exceptional midfielders, who can always find the prolific striker. Kane is a top-quality player, and with adequate reinforcements, he is more likely to perform better than last season.

1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City) @ 11/4

The new Manchester City signing has become an instant favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot with an outright 44% chance. It seems fair, as everywhere the Norwegian goes, luck follows him.

Haaland has a multi-talented supply line of esteemed stars behind him, making him a notorious threat to any opposition this year. Moreover, during his debut, he emerged as City's new penalty-taker as well, which helped him to a brace.
