If a talented Premier League squad lacks the proper standard-bearers—players who set an example and keep their teammates focused both on and off the field—what good is it?
The structure of captains, vice-captains, and other role models shifts as a result of player movement (and retirement). So the summer transfer window is about more than just acquiring a flamboyant winger or an efficient defender.
There are many amazing players in the Premier League, but each team needs one man who can stand out from the crowd and guide his side to success. It takes commitment, enthusiasm, poise, and a good amount of natural talent to be club captain.
You don’t have to be your team’s best player to be chosen as captain. Nevertheless, several of the captains in this league are unquestionably among the Premier League’s top players.
While some are new to the position of captain but still perform well, others may just be the team’s longest-serving member. The latter have received the armband as a reward for their devotion.
