The former France international also believes Juventus has more potential to succeed in the next two-three years than Real Madrid.

Former France international Bacary Sagna feels that his compatriot Paul Pogba should return to his former team, Juventus, rather than joining Real Madrid in the summer.

Both Bacary Sagna and Paul Pogba were teammates and shared a good bond during their time for the Les Blues. The defender made a name for himself at Arsenal and featured for France between 2013 and 2016.

The last year was full with speculations regarding the Pogba joining different clubs in Europe and even his agent Mino Raiola has revealed that Pogba wanted to leave Old Trafford last year.

“Everyone within the club [United] from the manager to the owner knows Paul’s wishes. Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on, everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are," Raiola said.

Pogba's time at Manchester United is almost up and even the club and the fans are prepared to bid him a final goodbye. He was tipped to move away in the January transfer window, however, the 27-year-old stayed and played only eight matches since then, succumbing to an ankle injury which kept him out of action.

There were rumors of the midfielder joining Real Madrid and the Spanish giants still lead the race to sign the Frenchman because of Pogba's relationship with Zinedine Zidane.

However his former France teammate, Bacary Sagna feels that a move back to Italy will be more suitable to the 27-year-old midfielder.

"I see Paul returning to Juventus because Cristiano [Ronaldo] is there and because Juventus is the club that made him shine," Sagna said to Goal. “He loves the club, he already knows it,” he added.

The Frenchman had a great time at Turin with Juventus where he spent four years before leaving for Manchester United. He won several accolades and built a great midfielder partnership with the likes of Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo. Together they won four successive Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia before signing for Manchester United in 2016 for a then-record transfer fee of £93.2 million (€110m).

Since then Paul Pogba has been the midfielder fulcrum for the Red Devils as they move into transition. The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup but were not able to win the Premier League.

Bacary Sagna also quipped, “It will be tricky for him to go to Madrid now because Madrid are not doing so well and there would be big expectation on him and the Madrid team is getting old."

“Juve have bought some players like Ramsey and Cristiano. Cristiano is not young anymore, but he plays like a young boy and they still have a young team," he added.

“If you think about the next two or three years, I think Juve has bigger potential than Madrid.”
