PSG vs Aston Villa Preview – prediction, team news, lineups | UEFA Super Cup 2026 final

The Parisians are on the verge of securing their second straight European Super Cup!

UEFA Champions League winners, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), will lock horns with the Europa League winners, Aston Villa, for the UEFA Super Cup 2026 final. The Red Bull Arena in Salzburg is going to witness this high-stakes clash.

After winning back-to-back Champions League titles, the Luis Enrique-led side will now battle for consecutive UEFA Super Cup silverware. The Ligue 1 giants have failed to secure a win in their last two friendly outings. They faced a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Mallorca and were then held to a draw by Manchester United.

All of the FIFA World Cup participants are now back for Paris Saint-Germain. This will be a major boost for the French club. They lacked composure in the final third during their recent encounter against the Red Devils, but with Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola and others joining the squad, they will surely come up with a better performance.

The Unai Emery-led side have put in some inconsistent performances during their current pre-season run. With Morgan Rogers moving to Chelsea, it leaves the Villans to get a new strong player to control the midfield.

Aston Villa have a decent backline, but will have to step up their game in the final third and the midfield. They must establish control from the start and should not allow the Parisians to attempt chances on goal.

Kick-off:

  • Location: Salzburg, Austria
  • Venue: Red Bull Arena
  • Date: Thursday, August 13
  • Kick-off Time: 12:30 AM IST (Wednesday, Aug 12; 07:00 PM GMT/ 02:30 PM ET/ 11:30 AM PT)
  • VAR: In use

Form:

PSG: L-D

Villa: W-L-L-W-L

Players to Watch

Vitinha (PSG)

The Portuguese midfielder will have an important role to play both in the midfield and on the attacking front for the Parisians. The 26-year-old has been a crucial part of Luis Enrique’s plan as he can establish strong control in the midfield. Vitinha is capable of scoring goals as well and it will be interesting to see his performance this time around.

João Gomes (Aston Villa)

João Gomes was the standout performer for the Villans in their last pre-season game against Bayern Munich. He was also the sole goal scorer for his side against the German giants. After putting in a promising performance, Unai Emery might even rely on the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder.

Match Facts

  • PSG are winless in their last two club friendly outings.

All of the squad members are fit and ready to be in action for PSG. Names like Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi, Fabian Ruiz, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola might not start for the Champions League winners, but will surely come on as substitutes.

For Aston Villa, Amadou Onana is not going to be in action. He is out for the long term due to a cruciate ligament injury. Stars like Emiliano Martinez, Alejandro Garnacho, Leon Bailey, John McGinn and Johan Manzambi are not yet confirmed to be a part of the squad.
