PSV vs Shakhtar Donetsk: Full lineups confirmed as Ivan Perisic starts in UEFA Champions League 2026-27 match
Two giants begin their UCL campaign against each other.
Tonight, PSV Eindhoven will host Shakhtar Donetsk at Philips Stadium in their first league phase encounter in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League.
These two clubs will meet for the first time since November 2024, when the Dutch staged a remarkable turnaround to prevail 3-2 in the league phase. They netted all three goals from the 87th minute onwards.
PSV Eindhoven have cemented themselves as the most powerful squad in the Netherlands, claiming the Eredivisie title in each of the past three seasons. They finished 19 points ahead of nearest rivals Feyenoord to win their 27th top-flight trophy in 2025-26.
Shakhtar Donetsk, like PSV, are getting ready for their 20th season in the Champions League, the longest of any Ukrainian club. All after winning their 16th top-flight title in 2025-26, one behind Dynamo Kyiv’s record of 17.
With Russia’s continuing occupation of Ukraine, the Pitmen will host all of their Champions League home games at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge this campaign. Matches against AEK Athens, Sporting Lisbon, Fenerbahce, and Real Madrid are set over the next four months.
The Pitmen have also had a good start to their domestic campaign by winning four of their first five Ukrainian Premier League matches (One defeat). That includes a 2-1 comeback triumph away to Karpaty LVIV last weekend.
