This season’s newly promoted Racing Santander will lock horns with LaLiga giants Real Madrid in round 11. Racing beat the Catalan side Espanyol in their last fixture by 2-1, which led to the sacking of Manolo Gonzalez. Despite the odds, they will be confident of playing good football against Los Blancos.
Racing in 10 matches have won three, drawn twice and lost five games. Their record against Real Madrid isn’t that good, but they will be hopeful of making an upset.
Tactically, they did get outclassed against FC Barcelona and Celta Vigo, which led to humiliating defeats. So they will have to make sure to not repeat the same mistakes again.
On the other hand, Jose Mourinho helped Los Blancos beat their rival FC Barcelona by 1-2 at Camp Nou. This win was really important. Now they are just three points behind their rival.
Despite getting dominated by Barca, Los Blancos played in a typical Mourinho style and made things very difficult for the home team. Now they face Racing away from home, which should not be a difficult task. But still, they can’t afford to take things lightly at all.
Players to Watch
Yassir Zabiri (Racing Santander)
The young Moroccan international has impressed everyone with his performance so far in the league. He joined Racing on loan from French club Rennes for this season. Fans are truly enjoying his performance.
In 10 LaLiga matches, he has scored eight goals, but has also received four yellow cards. It shows he needs to work on his discipline. Zabiri will be a big threat to Madrid’s defence for sure.
Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid)
The Frenchman came second in the recent Ballon d’Or race. The Real Madrid forward lost to Harry Kane by a very small margin. He was once again the hero against Barcelona, as he scored two goals to help his side win the El Clasico.
So far, he has been great this season, with 11 goals; he is the second-highest goalscorer in the league. Mbappe suits Mourinho’s style of play perfectly. He will be confident to score more goals in the upcoming clashes.
