Raphinha & De Jong: Barcelona’s injury updates ahead of Getafe match in LaLiga 2026-27

Several big names are fitness doubts for the Blaugrana.

Barcelona return to LaLiga action with a Matchday 8 fixture against Getafe at Camp Nou on Saturday, October 10. The Catalan giants are currently on top of the table with 21 points, five points clear of Atletico Madrid and Real Betis.

Another win will take the Blaugrana eight points clear at the top and build a sizeable lead over Real Madrid ahead of El Clásico on October 25. Hansi Flick’s side will be heavy favourites for their upcoming clash against Getafe, who are currently in 11th place.

However, the hosts have a few injury issues on their hands, including Frenkie de Jong and captain Raphinha. There are question marks about the pair’s fitness for the upcoming fixture. Let’s look at whether the two players will play against Getafe.

Will Raphinha & Frenkie de Jong play for Barcelona vs Getafe?

Raphinha suffered a small muscular swelling in the back of his right thigh while on international duty for Brazil. The forward returned early from the national team camp after the second friendly against Australia.

Following medical examinations in Barcelona, the skipper was declared injury-free. However, Raphinha has been training away from the main squad for two days, and according to AS, the club are taking a risk-free approach with the Brazilian’s return.

As a result, Raphinha will likely start on the bench against Getafe and may even get some minutes under his belt.

Frenkie de Jong, meanwhile, has been out since the summer after suffering a serious knee injury while playing for the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The midfielder has reportedly made significant progress in his recovery and returned to first-team training earlier this week.

However, he is still not fully match fit, and media reports suggest that he will need 15 to 20 more days to regain full match fitness. As a result, he will likely make his first appearance against Deportivo Alaves on October 31.

Who else will miss Barcelona vs Getafe match?

Another influential player who is an injury doubt for the upcoming match is goalkeeper Joan Garcia. The Spanish international suffered a knee injury before the international break.

However, he has returned to full team training and will likely be in the matchday squad against Getafe. It will be up to Flick whether he sticks with Dominik Livakovic between the sticks or brings back Garcia.

The Catalan club will be without youngster Roony Bardghji. The Swede suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during training at the start of the season. Therefore, he is set for an extended period on the sidelines, and his return date has not been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, Danish centre-back Andreas Christensen is also out at least for a few more weeks because of a thigh injury. He is expected to return by the end of October.
