Real Madrid vs Leganes Preview - prediction, team news, lineups | Pre-Season Friendly

Los Blancos are unbeaten in their last six meetings with Los Pepineros.

Spanish and European giants, Real Madrid, are all set to be back in action. For their first pre-season game ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, they are going to lock horns with a LaLiga 2 club, CD Leganes, behind closed doors.

Los Blancos have seen a serious managerial change after a trophyless 2025-26 season. The whole medical staff has also been restructured after an injury-plagued campaign. Jose Mourinho is back at the club for his second stint.

Reports suggest that the first training session under the Portuguese manager was quite positive. Real Madrid have been busy during the summer 2026 transfer window. They have signed many new faces.

A lot of stars are set to miss out due to the FIFA World Cup 2026 run for now. It will now be interesting to see how Mourinho will use the remaining squad.

Los Pepineros are also coming in after having an underwhelming campaign. After getting relegated to the Segunda División last season, they finished 16th in the league. Their performances were not up to the mark.

CD Leganes have already played a pre-season game, and it did not end in their favour. Rubén Albés’ men are coming in after facing a 1-2 loss at the hands of Levante, conceding a late goal. They were also held to a draw by Albacete and Nacional.

Their performances against Real Madrid haven’t been the best in recent times. They might struggle out there.

Players to Watch

Gonzalo Garcia (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid’s attacking front will heavily rely on Gonzalo Garcia in the absence of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and others. The 22-year-old scored six goals and had an assist in 30 LaLiga matches last season. He will be looking to step up his game.

A top performance is surely going to help impress Jose Mourinho.

Roberto López (Leganés)

Roberto López was the sole goal scorer for CD Leganes in their previous friendly contest against Levante. He came in with a goal late in the game. However, it was not enough in the end.

Lopez can compete in multiple positions on the field. He is a central midfielder who can also be a threat on the right flank.
