The Blues have one thing to worry about. As the season progresses, if Robert Sanchez continues with a similar performance, they will need a reliable goalkeeper.

5. Marco Carnesecchi
Marco Carnesecchi was linked with Chelsea around the time Alonso was appointed. He was apparently on the new manager’s shortlist. For whatever reason, the Blues have yet to make a bid for the goalkeeper.
Carnesecchi was Atalanta’s player of the year last season. Chelsea are not the only ones interested; Bayern Munich are thought to be lurking around. However, sources in Italy say that Atalanta would want a large amount to even consider bids.
It might make Chelsea go elsewhere.
4. Bart Verbruggen
Bart Verbruggen feels a step behind Kobel and Costa. He has 27 clean sheets in 107 Brighton appearances and stopped 70% of the shots he faced last season. Verbruggen is only 24 years old.
He will undoubtedly develop in the coming years. But Brighton will most certainly want a high price. But the question is, when has it ever stopped Chelsea before?
3. Diogo Costa
If Chelsea fans had their way, many would want Diogo Costa to be their next custodian. The FC Porto keeper specialises in saving shots. He stopped 80% of the shots he faced last season.
He has saved all seven shots on goal this season. He also has outstanding footwork and exudes a sense of calmness that Robert Sanchez lacks. As an extra benefit, he has an excellent penalty-saving record.
2. Emiliano Martinez
At 33, Martinez’s possible arrival would be a stopgap for Chelsea. But following Robert Sanchez’s performance on Monday, it may be a must-have for Xabi Alonso.
The advantage of Martinez is that you know exactly what you are acquiring: a Premier League-ready custodian who can also serve as a senior figure and team leader. All this even if his age means he won’t be around for long.
Martinez was dropped from the Villa team, with Marco Bizot starting and recruit Zion Suzuki on the bench, implying that his time in Birmingham is nearing an end. He might be available for a cheap sum.

The Dortmund custodian has previously been linked with Chelsea. The transfer appears to make a lot of sense.
He claimed the Bundesliga golden glove last campaign, keeping 15 clean sheets in 34 games. The German club would be reluctant to let their first-choice goalkeeper leave so close to the deadline; the fact that he has only two years left on his contract may persuade them to cash in.
