Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season
Roberto De Zerbi and Unai Emery are the front-runners to succeed Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich in the upcoming campaign.
Bayern Munich’s hunt for a new head coach is not proceeding as expected. The Bavarian club decided that Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen would be the best person to take Thomas Tuchel’s place. The Spaniard did, however, choose to remain at Leverkusen for an additional season.
Following Alonso’s rejection, Julian Nagelsmann emerged as Bayern’s main choice to take Tuchel’s place. According to reports, the club administration and the German coach had discussions in the last few days. Now, it seemed more a question of when than whether Nagelsmann would go back to Bavaria.
The Bavarian club’s attempt to sign Nagelsmann was unsuccessful. On Friday, the German coach surprised everyone by agreeing to a contract extension with DFB.

In their quest for a new head coach, Bayern have gone back to the drawing board. Die Roten’s list still includes Roberto De Zerbi, according to Sky Sports in Germany. Although Rangnick had ruled out relocating to Bavaria, the team executives are still keeping him in mind. Sebastian Hoeness of VfB Stuttgart is another player being considered, even though he recently signed a contract extension.
Regarding Bayern’s upcoming manager, Mundo Deportivo in Spain made a significant claim on Friday. According to the Spanish media site, negotiations between Zinedine Zidane and Bayern Munich are progressing well. Zidane is reportedly a candidate for head coach at Bayern, according to a report from the French publication L’Equipe.
In the past month, Unai Emery of Aston Villa have also been connected to a transfer to Bayern. The Spanish player is performing admirably for Aston Villa. It’s unclear if Die Roten will ask the Spanish coach to take over as head coach come summertime.
By the end of April, Bayern hoped to have an agreement in place for the new head coach. It looks like this will take a lot longer to resolve, based on recent developments. After losing out on their top targets Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann, it appears inevitable that Rekordmeister will not receive their desired candidate.
Thomas Tuchel, however, has shot down rumours that he will stick around after the current campaign. Tuchel emphasised that there is still a deal in place with Die Roten to split ways at the conclusion of the current campaign during a Friday media conference. The former Chelsea manager hopes to win the Champions League to cap off his eventful time in Bavaria.
