Both Scotland and Switzerland will resume their UEFA Nations League campaign tonight, with each side looking to claim the win in this contest. The Scots will be hoping to clinch their first win of the competition.
Scotland will try to win at Hampden Park against a formidable Switzerland team in League B of the Nations League as they continue their new era.
Scotland began the Sébastien Pocognoli era, tasked with developing the Tartan Army’s style, with a somewhat lacklustre goalless draw against Slovenia. A match that was both more open than the score showed and possibly expected.
With Steve Clarke leading the Scots to their first World Cup in 28 years after further qualifying for EURO 2020 and EURO 2024, reaching major tournaments is now the minimum expectation. Scotland left early due to a group-stage exit from the World Cup for a record-breaking ninth time over the summer.
Switzerland, which advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals for the eighth consecutive major tournament knockout stage, were expected to easily win promotion after being unexpectedly demoted from League A of the Nations League the previous season.
With goals from Remo Freuler and Zeki Amdouni on either side of halftime, they easily defeated North Macedonia 3-0 in Skopje on Saturday to start their campaign.

After defeating North Macedonia 3-0 on the road thanks to two goals from striker Zeki Amdouni, Switzerland now lead their group. In their first game under head coach Sébastien Pocognoli, Scotland secured a 0-0 draw away to Slovenia to take second place.
Scott McTominay and Xherdan Shaqiri both scored in the teams’ most recent competitive encounter, which concluded in a 1-1 tie at Euro 2024. In the past, Switzerland have only won one of its eight trips to Scotland, making it a difficult destination for the Swiss.
