Four players from champions AC Milan find their place in this side.

The Serie A lived up to its expectation and delivered a tremendous amount of entertainment in the past season. AC Milan became the Italian champions by winning the league after a gap of 11 years. The competition for all the places was intense and the title race went down to the wire. Thanks to their resilience, the Rossoneri secured the top place on the points table, followed by Inter Milan in second.

There were countless notable performances by individuals across the campaign. These individuals were consistent and helped their respective clubs achieve the objectives that were set at the beginning of the season. Furthermore, there were some players that were exceptional despite their club’s overall performance in the term.

Looking back at the season and its best performers, Khel Now has picked its Serie A's Team of the Season (TOTS). There was heavy competition for each position and the players that made it to the TOTS will be ones to watch out for in future too.

Here is the Serie A 2021-22 Team of the Season:

Khel Now's Serie A 2021-22 Team of the Season

GK - Mike Maignan (AC Milan)

Mike Maignan was the difference-maker for AC Milan this season. He joined the club after guiding LOSC Lille to the Ligue 1 title last season. This year, he won the Italian Serie A with Milan and won the golden glove. He ended the season with 17 clean sheets in 32 matches and received the goalkeeper of the season award by the league.

RB - Juan Cuadrado (Juventus)

Juan Cuadrado takes his place in the team of the season despite Juventus FC’s disappointing season. The Colombian was strong in the full-back role, delivering four goals and four assists. The 33-year-old featured in 33 league matches and also created 1.8 big chances per match. He also made 55 key passes, the 10th best in the league.

CB - Gleison Bremer (Torino)

Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer had a very successful season in an individual capacity. While Torino finished 10th in the league table, Bremer won the defender of the season award. The 25-year-old played 33 matches and scored three goals with one assist. More importantly,  Bremer was the only player to make 400+ ball recoveries in the league, ending up with 466.

CB - Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan)

Fikayo Tomori was one of the revelations who established himself as a major force in the league. The Englishman proved the critics wrong by delivering a sensational performance and helping AC Milan win the Serie A. He made 73 tackles, 77 clearances and 45 interceptions in a well-rounded overall display.

LB - Theo Hernandez (AC Milan)

Theo Hernandez was an important cog in AC Milan’s defensive machinery. The full-back had a strong campaign, recording five goals and six assists in 32 appearances. The Frenchman remains one of the finest left-backs in Europe and takes his place in the TOTS.

CM - Sergej Milinković-Savić (Lazio)

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic had a sensational season while playing for Lazio. The midfielder played 37 matches and recorded an impressive goal contribution to the team. He scored 12 goals and made 11 assists for the team that narrowly missed out on a fourth place in the league and UEFA Champions League qualification.

CM - Marcelo Brozovic (Inter Milan)

Marcelo Brozovic was the sentinel in the middle for Inter Milan. The Croatian international won the midfielder of the season award by the league organisers at the end of the campaign. He easily finds his place in the team of the season after almost guiding Inter to a second successive league win.

LW - Rafael Leao (AC Milan)

Rafael Leao was one of the best performers in the whole of Europe last season, let alone in the Serie A. He won the player of the season award by the league organisers for his all-around performance while playing for AC Milan. He scored 11 goals and made 10 assists in 34 appearances for the league winners.

RW - Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo)

Domenico Berardi was a class above the rest of the players at Sassuolo. The winger finished the season with 17 assists, the most by a single player in the division. On top of that, he also found the back of the net 15 times, taking his overall goal contributions to 32 from 33 matches. Expectedly, the 27-year-old is linked with a move to several top clubs in Italy.

ST - Ciro Immobile (Lazio)

Ciro Immobile carried his goalscoring form into the 2021-22 season as well. The Italian international won the golden boot after scoring 27 goals in 31 matches. He also had three assists to his name and converted seven penalties across the campaign. Despite his best individual efforts, Lazio finished fifth, six points short of fourth place and UCL qualification.

ST - Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus)

Dusan Vlahovic was in an outstanding form during the 2021-22 season and takes his place in the Serie A team of the season. He scored 24 goals (the second best) from 37 appearances for Fiorentina and Juventus combined. The 22-year-old has a bright future ahead and will certainly aim to lead the Old Lady back to the top of Italian football.
