Luis Enrique re-appointed head coach of Spain, Robert Moreno sacked

The 'sacked' Robert Moreno appeared to leave the stadium in tears after the La Roja's previous Euro Qualifying game.

In an exciting news for the Spanish football fans, Luis Enrique is back as the manager of the national team! The former Barcelona manager is back in time ahead of the UEFA European Championship next year. Previously in June, Luis Enrique had resigned from his position from the Spain national team citing his daughter's health issues. That was followed by his assistant Robert Moreno replacing him at the helm, who in turn led the team to a superb run in the European Qualifiers. In the meanwhile, Moreno looked to had settled in his position as Spain manager.

Under him, the La Roja eked out seven wins in nine games - a 100% unbeaten record!

Yet, as it appears, Luis Enrique approached Moreno citing a possible return to his position as Spain manager. The President of Spanish FA in a statement confirmed that Moreno, after having a word with Enrique, has decided to let go of his position. "On Monday, we received a message from Moreno, who said he would not stand in the way of Luis Enrique returning. He was the 1st person to know of his return, before the federation," said Rubiales. "We have always acted with respect and transparency. We kept our word. The federation has acted coherently with everyone. We are loyal to Luis Enrique and the person who occupied his job," he added. "We want to thank Robert Moreno for his work, he did very well and we are very happy with what he did." However, as it stands, Moreno might not remain associated with the national team anymore as the FA have given Enrique the full freedom to choose his staff. "We had a meeting set up with Moreno at 10 AM this morning. He didn't come, just two lawyers. If he decided not to talk to press yesterday, we must respect that," Rubiales quoted.
