La Roja will play in their second-ever semi-final of the World Cup.

Super sub Mikel Merino shattered Belgian hearts and pushed Spain to a World Cup semi-final. It has set up a meeting with France with a late goal in a thrilling 2-1 victory.

The astonishing ending at SoFi Stadium sets up a thrilling match in Dallas on July 14 between European champions Spain and tournament favourites France, who have the red-hot Kylian Mbappé.

With France in brilliant form, La Roja will be eager to break their run in the competition. This is just the second semi-final they will be playing in.

Despite having a long history of playing international football, La Roja have typically performed poorly at the World Cup. That is in comparison to their talent, frequently failing to make it past the quarterfinals. They have a flawless conversion record, though, when they do advance to the last four.

In 2010 against Germany.
