Premier League breaks all spending records in summer transfer window 2022

The English top flight clubs splashed the cash this summer
The summer 2022 transfer window is finally over and it has been one of the most exciting windows in a very long time. In modern times, the transfer window has become the most exciting time for football fans. With exorbitant transfer values, clubs battle for supremacy to land the signatures of future stars. It is also the time to reinvest and restructure with immediate additions that might give the outfit an edge over others. We’ve witnessed several players leave and join a new club with ambitious hopes.
This summer we saw young stars like Antony, Aurélien Tchouameni, Darwin Núñez, Alexander Isak, Matthijs de Ligt, Wesley Fofana and Erling Haaland switching clubs for big money. Real Madrid star Casemiro joined Manchester United. While Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has joined fellow Premier League giants Chelsea.
The summer Transfer Deadline Day was a very exciting one as well. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to the Premier League. The 33-year-old striker joined Chelsea from Barcelona on Deadline Day. Denis Zakaria joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus. Arthur Melo joined Liverpool on loan from Juventus.

Premier League clubs splashed the cash this summer. Antony joined his former manager Erik ten Hag at Manchester United for £81.3m. Darwin Núñez was the second-most expensive Premier League transfer this summer, as he joined Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool from Benfica. While newly promoted side Nottingham Forest signed a whopping 21 players this summer. New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly splashed the clash this summer transfer window and Chelsea ended the window as the highest spenders (£278.4m).

The Premier League broke its own record for the most money spent in a single transfer window (£1.43bn in summer 2017). The Premier League clubs this summer spend a total of £1.9bn at the end of the Deadline Day. The rest of the top four major European leagues spent a total of £1.97bn.
