The league has featured some household names over the years.

There have been many players who have started their careers with the EFL Championship. It has been home to players such as Andrew Roberson, Harry Maguire, Jamie Vardy and many others who have forged their way to greatness. Despite this, the EFL has also seen some unfortunate players who were unable to reach the next level and were destined to only play in the Championship.

Here are the ten players with the most appearances in the EFL championship

Chris Martin - 405 Appearances

Chris Martin is a Scotland-born striker of Bristol City. His playing career now spans more than 14 years in the English second division. He has scored more than 100 goals in the EFL Championship, and his best season was in 2013/14 when he bagged 20 goals. The Scottish striker has played for seven clubs in the EFL Championship so far and is still going strong with Bristol City.

Tom Lees - 413 Appearances

The ninth position is occupied by English centre-back Tom Lees. Lees has been playing in the EFL Championship for 10 seasons and has yet to experience playing in the Premier League. Currently, he plays for Huddersfield Town, but he previously played for Sheffield Wednesday for seven years. Lees is 6ft 1in and has been rock solid at the back for years. The 31-year-old would be hoping to make his mark in the Premier League after spending so many years in the 2nd division.

In our next player, we have one who is currently playing in the 3rd division of English football but is still a Welsh international and is a classic example of EFL Championship tenacity. Chris Gunter currently plays in League One, but he has appeared 414 times in the EFL Championship. Gunter spent eight seasons with Reading as a key member of the squad. His current club is Charlton Athletic, after moving from Reading in the 2020/21 season.

Michael Morrison - 415 Appearances

Michael Morrison is another Centre Back on this list. He has made 415 appearances for EFL Championship teams and is still considered one of the best in the league at the age of 34. In his 18-year career, he has also played for Leicester City, Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City. Morrison is another unfortunate player who has never experienced the Premier League.

Lee Camp - 421 Appearances

Lee Camp is a goalkeeper and a veteran of the English Football League Championship. His last appearance in the EFL Championship was for Birmingham City in 2019/20. Camp currently plays in the National League for Wrexham. His career has spanned almost every division of English football, including the Premier League. At the age of 37, Camp has not slowed down since making his debut in 2002/03.
