Top five clubs Jesse Lingard could join in the summer
The midfielder has reinvented himself since his loan move to West Ham United.
Since leaving Manchester United for a loan, Jesse Lingard has rapidly taken the Premier League by storm. He has surpassed all expectations, going on to score eight goals and four assists in nine games for West Ham United under former manager David Moyes.
The midfielder had also earned a national team call-up due to his sensational form and looks like a brand new version of himself. Expectedly, Manchester United are weighing their options and will favourably sell him in the upcoming window.
The list of suitors for Lingard is growing by every passing gameweek. The probable clubs that he might join include teams from England and the rest of Europe alike. Given the likely possibility of the Englishman leaving Old Trafford permanently, here are the five teams, one of whom he might join in the summer.
5. Inter Milan
Inter Milan have enjoyed a lot of success recently after signing players from the Premier League, especially from Manchester United. They have signed Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young, Alexis Sanchez and Matteo Darmian from the Red Devils and are reportedly interested to secure another player.
The aim to create a core of former teammates is clear by Antonio Conte, who is heading towards a Serie A triumph with the club. The platform would be perfect for Lingard to further showcase his talent.
4. Real Madrid CF
According to ESPN, Real Madrid is keeping close tabs on Jesse Lingard. The La Liga giants are aiming to continue their rebuild under Zinedine Zidane’s second spell with the club.
Jesse Lingard could be the perfect combination of speed and technique Los Blancos have been looking for. The Englishman will provide great squad depth and an option from the bench. Apart from that, if Lingard continues to play at the same level, he could play a more important role.
3. Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain are another one of the European heavyweights who are reportedly interested in signing Jesse Lingard. The Ligue 1 outfit will benefit from Lingard’s tenacity which fits well with the type of gameplay implemented by the club.
PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has seen Lingard closely from his time in the Premier League. The Argentine would be able to utilise the qualities brought to the table by the midfielder to good effect.
2. Arsenal
Several English clubs have already shown an interest in signing Jesse Lingard and Arsenal are reportedly looking to hijack West Ham United’s plan to permanently sign the player. Lingard has historically hurt the Gunners whenever coming up against them and the London-based outfit would know of his qualities closer than most.
Mikel Arteta would also relish more attacking input in a team which has looked lethargic upfront on many occasions. Moreover, it would be practically sound for Lingard to stay in England and continue to be closer to his family.
1. West Ham United
West Ham United are the most likely team to secure Jesse Lingard’s signature. The hierarchy at the club have clearly stated their intentions of wanting to sign the player permanently. The Hammers will enjoy a priority option on the player since he has already settled perfectly in the squad.
Additionally, Manchester United might make a move for West Ham’s Declan Rice in the summer and could use Jesse Lingard to bring down the asking price. The chances of a deal happening are very likely, since both sides will get what they want, at a reasonable price too.
