The striker has confirmed that he will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of this season.
Luis Suarez is one of the best strikers of our generation. The Uruguayan first made his breakthrough at Ajax and then at Liverpool. He won the Golden Boot with an average Liverpool side in 2014. Suarez is the only player to win the Golden Boot during the prime Messi and Ronaldo era. Luis has garnered a staggering 676 goal contributions in 697 games for Ajax , Liverpool and Barcelona throughout all competitions.
As of now , Atletico Madrid have stated that Luis Suarez will leave the club. The 35 year old isn't as formidable as he used to be but nevertheless many clubs can sign him. Here are the top 5 clubs that should target Luis Suarez.
5) West Ham United
The Hammers have made the headlines under David Moyes. They have become a contender for the top four spot and easily for the Europa League spot as well. Currently they are in 7th spot and can make it to the top 6 provided United lose.
Moreover the likes of Jarrod Bowen ,Michail Antonio and especially Declan Rice are amongst the transfer list for many clubs. Chelsea and other big clubs are looking to pay a big fee for Declan Rice. West Ham can easily get money off of Rice to fund some big name transfers. It would be unlikely to rule out the transfer of Luis Suarez.
4) Inter Miami
The MLS (Major League Soccer) is a destination for many footballers looking to retire. The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Beckham ,Higuain have played there. David Beckham is the president of Inter Miami and has orchestrated the signing of ex European stars such as Higuain and Matuidi.
Currently Inter Miami are struggling and have finished 11th in the league table. Beckham's side are just one spot shy from being in the last position. Luis Suarez is 35 years old and it is a possibility that he cannot play consistently at the top level anymore.
3) FC Barcelona
It is true that Luis Suarez enjoyed his prime and most prolific years at Barcelona. The attacking trio of MSN ( Messi- Neymar - Suarez) is considered one of the best if not the best. Suarez was forced to leave the club in tears because of some financial issues. Barcelona however proceeded to do bad business selling the Uruguayan to rivals Atletico Madrid. Unsurprisingly Suarez played a vital role next season in Atletico Madrid's iconic title clinch.
However Barcelona have become quite a different side under Joan Laporta and Xavi. Xavi has already recalled Dani Alves and can unite the dressing room if he signs Luis Suarez.
2) Aston Villa
Many recent rumours suggest that Luis Suarez is open to reuniting with former teammates Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho. Gerrard made an instant impact as manager at Aston Villa. The Villans have made it to the first half of the points table of the Premier League.
Aston Villa have already completed the signing of Philippe Coutinho from FC Barcelona. Coutinho himself is in fine form for Aston Villa scoring on his debut .
It is clear that they are heading to contend for a top 6 spot. The task will become much easier if Luis Suarez joins Aston Villa.
1) Arsenal
Luis Suarez has history with Arsenal in the past. Former manager Arsene Wenger triggered the release clause for the Uruguayan. Luis had a £40 million release clause in his contract and knowingly Wenger placed a £40 million and £1 to trigger the clause. Unfortunately the Gunners received nothing but humiliation because the deal fell through.
The Uruguayan has been on the opposition side as well against the Gunners. He has scored quite a few goals against them. This move was unlikely because Arsenal are looking to build a team full of youngsters. However their reliable Centre forward Lacazette is likely to leave. Luis Suarez can easily fill in this role at Arsenal.
