5. Benjamin Asare (Ghana) – 2

Backup goalkeeper Benjamin Asare turned out to be the unlikely hero for Ghana in this year’s World Cup. Coming into the side following an injury to No. 1 Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Asare starred for the Black Stars. He kept back-to-back clean sheets in the first two games against Panama and England, making a total of six saves. He was good against Croatia as well, even though he conceded goals to Petar Sucic and Nikola Vlasic.

4. Matt Freese (USA) – 2

New York City FC custodian Matt Freese has been brilliant between the sticks for the co-hosts, keeping two clean sheets in three games. Although he would have been disappointed when Mauricio scored late in the match against Paraguay, Freese kept a clean sheet in the next match against Australia. After being rested against Turkiye, he returned to the starting lineup against Bosnia and Herzegovina and produced another shutout.

3. Camilo Vargas (Colombia) – 3

37-year-old Camilo Vargas is having the tournament of his life in the expanded 48-team edition in North America. Having played all four matches for Los Cafeteros, he has conceded just one goal – in the first match against Uzbekistan. Since then, he has produced four shutouts – against DR Congo, Portugal, and Ghana, helping his nation reach the Round of 16.

2. Raul Rangel (Mexico) – 4

Chivas goalkeeper Raul Rangel has become a well-known name due to his performances for Mexico in the ongoing World Cup. After being chosen as the No. 1 goalkeeper ahead of the veteran Guillermo Ochoa, Rangel has justified the decision by keeping four clean sheets in four games, shutting out the likes of South Africa, South Korea, Czechia, and Ecuador. He is one of the key reasons why El Tri is pushing for a place in the quarter-finals.

There was a lot of discussion on who should be Spain’s No. 1 in the tournament, with David Raya and Joan Garcia coming off superb domestic seasons. However, Unai Simon has silenced all of his critics, producing terrific performances to lead the Golden Glove charts at the moment. The Athletic Bilbao custodian has set a World Cup record after spending 519 minutes without conceding a goal. His performances have carried La Roja through to the Round of 16.

Who is leading the Golden Glove race in FIFA World Cup 2026?

Unai Simon (Spain) is currently leading the Golden Glove standings with four clean sheets from four games.
